our story
Aqqo started with two practical questions. In 2011, Jop Hofste built a reservation system for a tennis center in Oldenzaal and soon realized that many more organizations had the same need. Accountant Bas Heuvelmans saw the same thing at sports hall ‘t Hoge Vonder, where rentals were still tracked by hand. Together, they kept building. Bas brought a financial perspective and a head full of ideas. Jop brought the technical expertise and the overview to turn those ideas into reality. That combination meant they looked beyond the booking from the very start. A reservation system grew into a Venue Operating System for thousands of venues, from municipalities to hotels. A solution for one client became a company, without that being the plan in the first place. We still build what the market asks for, and that is why more and more organizations choose Aqqo.

At Aqqo, we combine a professional work ethic with a relaxed atmosphere. Lines are short and everyone is approachable. We also like to do things together outside of work: a summer barbecue, a beer tasting on Aqqo’s birthday or a game of padel on a Friday afternoon.

LOOKING BACK
One step further every year
What began as a single reservation system for a tennis center in Oldenzaal grew into the software 3,000+ venues rely on. We never did it alone. Our first clients became our office, our testers and our inspiration.
2011
The first reservation system
Jop builds a reservation system for Tenniscentrum Oldenzaal. Court rentals can now be booked online.
2014
Jop and Bas join forces
Bas brings in the challenge of ‘t Hoge Vonder. Together, they keep building one system that works for multiple organizations.
2015
The founding
Jop and Bas found a partnership and start with two pilot clients.

The team gets its first workspace of its own: the attic of Erve Hulsbeek, the hotel owned by Bas’ family.

Picking up speed
Aqqo acquires LVP and wins the Acceleration Budget at the Rabobank Innovation event at Zwarte Cross.
2025
Our current office in Utrecht
The Utrecht team gets a new home base at Winthontlaan 200.
2026
On to Oldenzaal
The move from Deurningen to Oldenzaal has been announced.

OUR OFFICES
Deurningen
Our first client is also our headquarters: in Deurningen, we work from ‘t Hoge Vonder. We sponsor handball club DSVD and see every day how a venue runs in practice.
Utrecht
Since 2025, we’ve worked from Element Offices at Winthontlaan 200 in Utrecht. Centrally located and easy to reach, for colleagues and clients alike.
