Software Engineer Intern (Backend) – 3rd-year HBO

At Aqqo, this isn’t a shadowing internship—you’ll be a real part of the development team. As a Backend Software Engineering Intern, you’ll work on product features used by thousands of users daily, and get a first-hand look at how professional software is built and maintained in a SaaS environment.

You’ll receive close guidance, clear feedback, and plenty of space to grow—both technically and personally.

This is a working internship, not a graduation project.

• Build backend functionality under guidance within the Aqqo platform
• Work with PHP and Laravel to develop and improve APIs
• Learn how to write stable, scalable, and well-structured code
• Contribute to real product features with direct user impact
• Collaborate in an agile team with stand-ups, code reviews, and releases
• Use modern dev tools, including AI-assisted coding (e.g. Cursor or GitHub Copilot)
• Learn from and work alongside experienced backend, frontend, and platform engineers

You’re curious, motivated, and eager to understand how real-world software development works.

You:

• Are a 3rd-year HBO student in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar
• Are looking for a working internship where you gain hands-on experience
• Have a basic understanding of programming and an interest in backend development
• Are curious about PHP, Laravel, and APIs (prior experience is a bonus, not required)
• Ask questions and are open to feedback
• Work in a structured way and take responsibility for your work
• Feel at home in an informal, professional environment
